PhD offer: Optics of liquid crystals and plasmonic oxides for intelligent glass

Context

The Paul Pascal Research Centre (CRPP) (CNRS UMR5031) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory of the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux that brings together chemists, physicochemists, physicists and biochemists. Their research aims to establish new fundamental concepts that are sources of understanding and innovation for technological applications. Scientific activities are organized into three main thematic axes with a strong overlap: soft matter, functional materials and their integration into biotechnologies.

Description

The PhD work will consist in understanding the scattering mechanisms involved in liquid crystals with and without plasmonic oxides both experimentally and theoretically. This will enable the design of promising routes in the fabrication of intelligent glass systems that control scattering and transmission of light through glass over various wavelength bands.
